Ready for an adventure?
Flying Solo. A term that spills from the tip of my tongue with ease. A common turn of phrase I've never really thought about twice but now makes my heart slam against my ribs.
Flying Solo.
My palms sweat and the handle of my suitcase is threatening to slip from my grip. The Southwest desk attendant asks for the names and ages of the people in my party.

She looks at the eager faces beaming back at her, colorful backpacks stuffed with all sorts of fun things slung across their backs and mini suitcases in tow. She can't help but smile. It must be contagious, because everywhere we go, the smiles follow. I can't blame her. They're freaking adorable.
She hands back my license with a raised brow and asks if I'm flying solo. The acid in my stomach burns the back of my throat.
I nod and smile. She hands me six boarding passes, and our journey begins. Gilbert, AZ, I hope you're ready for the Stockton Six. We're on our way, and we're ready to write our first chapter.

There are so many things to explore around Silver City, New Mexico! Josh and his family have 10 acres just outside the city, so it's become like a second home base for the Stockton Six! The first time I visited, I fell in love. Here's a few things you should try if you find yourself wanting to venture down south!
First stop: Beck's Coffee.☕ Ok, so this is actually not on the way from Albuquerque to Silver City...however the first trip I made here had me going through Las Cruces for work first, and we ended up stopping at Beck's Coffee. I mean *BECK'S COFFEE*... how perfect is that!? The coffee was great, and they had art by a local artist up on the walls. It's really a win-win situation. I feel like it was made for me lol.
Second stop: You have to check out the Big Ditch Park.
It's a waterway that runs through Silver City, and you can hike down it and feel like you've left the city even though it's right beside you the whole time!🌳🌳 There's a map in town of the Ditch you can follow, but sometimes just diving right in and seeing where you end up is even more fun. You can start at one end of town and end up on the other. Don't forget to check out the coffee shops and restaruants while your down there. The food we had was exceptionally tasty too!
Silver city has a wicked cool skatepark called Grindline. The girls *love* skateparks, and this one had so many cool elements. There's a tunnel and a half-circle for the expert skaters, and smaller hills and obstacles for those who are still learning. Kaia was super brave and learned hot to skate without support here! Rockstar!🛹
The landscape just outside of Silver City is gorgeous. I can't even tell you how many amazing sunsets we've seen there. It's also surrounded by the Gila National Forest, which boasts some of the most amazing scenery around. Josh and I took the Trail of the Mountain Spirits, a scenic byway, that just took my breath away. We stopped at a random spot on top of the mountain, grabbed a sandwich, and had an impromptu picnic right on the side of the road, high above anywhere else. ☀
The people of Silver City are so wonderful. Every person we met was super friendly, and the shops in downtown boasts of some major cool history with historical markers and signs for you to read up on. Visit if you can! We'd love to see you around town! ❤ Go explore Silver City!
