Want to know what we take along on our adventure? Search below! We love packing up our bags, it makes the anticipation so much more fun!
My Merrell Moab boots are like my right hand gal...a co-pilot and trusted advisor. I can't even begin to count the number of miles we'e got under the belt, and they still are as amazing as they were the day I bought them. And with a color name like "Bungee Cord" how could the not be awesome?!
Is it weird to have a pair of sunglasses as your ride or die? Asking for a friend....
Blenders. That's where it's at. I've worn many different shades (usually aviators) and once I landed this particular pair, I was a lifer. The price point is legit, the shades are comfortable, and I love when a company gives you the chance to stylize something to fit your mood. Right now I'm sporting the Sedona Sunset...but when the Purdy Birdies are in stock, you better bet they'll be mine!
Pistil Trucker Hats - This is the go-to hat for all the Stockton Six. We love them! There are sooo many different styles to chose from, and they are hard-core durable. The girls have dropped them in the river, thrown them down the cliff and have even sat on them on one of our long drives. We still have each and every one, and we wear them on every outdoor adventure. I can't praise them enough.
Osprey - This hydration pack has been my go-to since adventure number one. It has pockets in all the right places, an easy to use bite valve, and it's highly durable! It holds 2.5 liters of water and if you stick ice in the pack, it'll say cool even throughout any day-long hikes. Check it out!
I *love* my life jacket. Almost as much as my hikers...almost. It's a DBX brad from Dick's and it literally is the most comfortable life jacket I've ever worn. It doesn't choke me out, doesn't rub my arm pits the wrong way, and I hook anything and everything onto the straps. They have a bunch of colors to chose from, but I'm absolutely partial to the teal myself!
Sometimes I hike alone. Not the best idea, and it makes my sister anxious, but sometimes I need that therapy. One foot in front of the other and nothing but music in my ears. I bought these Sony earbuds because of their reviews. I thought about getting the cooler brands, but in the end, I went for these. I. Love. Them. They are true noise cancelling, stay in when I go for a run, and the sound quality is legit. I couldn't be happier. And right now, they're on sale at Target!! What we call *Double Prizes* in the SR7 home!
Energy Chews - I found these chews right before the first trip up the La Luz trail. Took them with, and I can't even tell you how amazing they are. They absolutely do exactly what they say. They taste like a fruity drink, and they give a boost of energy. I take a pack on every single long distance hike. Check them out!
Always, always, always have one of these one my. Love it with my coffee in the morning, and always have a bar with me in my hydration pack. Only one gram of sugar and packed with protein. I love so many of the flavors! If you try one, shoot me a message and let me know what you think!
CamelBak - Why it took me months to get my kids their hydration packs, I'll never know. Opening five water bottles every ten minutes is not fun, but having five dehydrated kids isn't great either. There aren't a lot of kid pack options, but we ended up with five of CamelBaks. Best investment ever. Bonus points, you can order extra bite valves for when they chew through them...
It might not surprise you that I've given my muscles a run for their money. Sometimes, particularly after a long, grueling, all-day hike, I think they just might quit. The *only* reason my quads have stuck around is because of the miracle cream DoTerra has dubbed Deep Blue. This stuff WORKS. Better than anything else I've tried before. I wish I could recommend it five times over!
All Trails is hands down one of my most favorite apps. And not just for navigating the trails I'm hiking. It's also amazing when it comes to finding new trails to try out. If you allow it to see your location, it'll bring up all the trails near by! You can also record your hikes, see your actual mileage, and tag pics for other local hikers to see. I've used it more times than I can count!
Ok, I know this has nothing to do with hiking or kayaking or rock climbing or anything adventure related, but this article wouldn't be complete without a nod to my absolute favorite book. Be prepared though! It's a quick read, but it'll tear your heart out. I cried. Out loud. Multiple times. Both times I read it. "A Monster Calls" If you read it, I absolutely expect a message in my inbox telling me what you think. Buy tissue.
